Quaffee – Ecuador Martin Vega – 250g
R115.00
Description
Ecuador is definitely a lesser known coffee origin, at least in South Africa. Despite neighbouring Colombia, one of the biggest coffee producers in the world, it only joined its Latin American neighbours in coffee production in the late 19th century. Still, it now produces about 1% of the world’s coffee, which isn’t insignificant, so we’re happy to have an opportunity to taste one of its speciality lots.
Our friends at Quaffee have prepared this coffee as a medium-light roast, but it still has plenty of body. It has lots of those classic Latin American notes like cocoa and nuts, as well as some subtle honey-like sweetness and a malted grain quality. Overall, it’s a very balanced coffee that should please classic palates.
Roaster’s notes
Taste Profile: A four-star complexity coffee, deep cocoa flavours with sweet apple juice finish.
Roast Used: Medium charge with heat to start gently decrease to assist in reducing ramp rate. About a minute before first crack, the flame is dropped to 50%. Coffee is dumped 50 seconds after first crack.
