To make great espresso, you need to focus on consistency. By the very nature of espresso extraction, minor changes in any brewing variable can significantly alter the taste in the cup. In recent years, espresso machines have come leaps and bounds in helping to make many important variables like pressure and temperature consistent. However, one part of espresso brewing has continued to be as much about art as science – tamping.

With the release of the PUSH Tamper, Clockwork Espresso have succeeded in creating a truly consistent tamper. Rather than tamping by feel, risking inconsistency (and repetitive strain injuries with high volumes), the PUSH Tamper allows you to calibrate, and then achieve a consistent tamp every time.

How the PUSH Tamper works
The PUSH Tamper allows you to set a standard depth, in 0.05mm increments, anywhere up to 15mm below the top of the filter basket. You then can push with your palm, until the outer edge of the filter basket makes contact with the PUSH Tamper. It’s that simple! With a standardised depth, you know you’re getting a consistent puck density.
