Like many of our favourite coffee products of recent years, Handground started as a Kickstarter campaign. The founders managed to raise almost ten times what they were aiming for, and the rest is history. The Handground Precision Coffee Grinder has made a huge impact in the US where it was born, and we’re very excited to be able to share it with the South African market.
There are many manual coffee grinders out there. We sell quite a few ourselves. While most of them are pretty consistent in their basic designs, the Handground is quite different. The designers of the Handground realised that while some people value portability, others are just looking for a precise and ergonomic manual grind, and so the Handground coffee grinder was made for this latter audience.
It’s bigger than your typical manual coffee grinder, and features 15 grind settings, rather than the typical 5-10, ranging from espresso-fine to French-press-coarse. Perhaps most importantly, the handle is side-mounted rather than top mounted, which allows you to put the grinder flat on a table, and crank more efficiently. With a larger hopper and ground coffee receptacle, this means you can churn out larger volumes if you’d like to.
